Dyan Gershman is the founder and partner of Gershman Law, PLLC, a boutique corporate law firm based in New York City. In this position, Dyan draws on over 25 years of experience to provide U.S. and international clients with a wide range of legal services in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and technology and intellectual property licensing. Dyan Gershman also provides legal support for general commercial matters. A New Yorker, Dyan Gershman supports numerous local nonprofit organizations, including the Central Park Conservancy.
Founded in 1980, the Central Park Conservancy manages all aspects of Central Park’s maintenance, enhancement, and restoration. In addition to helping to preserve a scenic retreat in the middle of a highly urbanized city, the conservancy offers a variety of programs and exhibits to educate the public about Central Park’s history. The Charles A. Dana Discovery Center inside Central Park features an exhibit that reveals archeological and historical findings uncovered during the restoration of the Fort Landscape, a six-acre plot of land located in the northeast corner of Central Park. Open to the public daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the exhibit showcases how the topography of the Fort Landscape was formed by a glacier millions of years ago. It also highlights the military history of the area. Fort Landscape was occupied by the British military as a camping and reinforcement site during the Revolutionary War. During the War of 1812, Americans used the area’s ascending path and rocky heights to build a defense system of three fortifications to gain access and control over the Kingsbridge Road, the main road running through Manhattan.
