Dyan Gershman is the founder and managing partner of Gershman Law, PLLC, a boutique corporate law firm based in the financial district of New York City. Dyan Gershman is active in the community and belongs to a number of local organizations, including the Hudson River Community Sailing club.
Founded in 2007, Hudson River Community Sailing (HRCS) is a nonprofit group that provides New Yorkers with sailing opportunities up and down the Hudson River, as well as uses sailing and maritime education to develop leadership skills and encourage academic success in underserved New York City youth. HRCS relies on the generosity of volunteers, who fill many important roles within the organization, such as: 1. Skippers. Experienced sailors can volunteer to work as skippers and help students get out on the water. 2. Career Speakers. Professionals from a wide range of careers are invited to talk to students about their professional and personal journeys. 3. Boat Builders. Volunteers can assist the operations team in the boathouse and help with winter boat-building projects. No experience or special skills are needed. 4. Mentors. Volunteers can mentor students by assisting them with their homework, providing guidance and career advice, or simply being a role model. 5. Event assistance. Volunteers help with a variety of events at HRCS – organizing events, selling tickets, and ensuring that events run smoothly. For more information, visit www.hudsonsailing.org.
